Sept 08 Update:  Hydromaster has moved their business to a commercial area on S.R. 158.

DEFEATED AT THE POLLS!!

THANK YOU FOR VOTING NO ON ISSUE 17!

May 2, 2006 Election Results:
NO on Issue 17 – 909   Yes on #17 - 592

RECAP OF ISSUE:

The Richardson Rezoning – ISSUE 17 – went to ballot on May 2, 2006 as was defeated by 317 opposition votes.

The property located in a rural residential area was rezoned to a B-2 Highway Business Commercial District by our former Zoning Inspector and approved by the former Township Trustees -- AGAINST the recommendation of Fairfield County Regional Planning.

The issue here was not about the owners of this rezoned property but was about poor choices in rezoning.  With a little thought and work by our Zoning Commission, the owners of this property will be granted a conditional use to conduct their home business operations which allows them time for them to find a commercial building or to build one to house their business.

If Issue 17 had not been defeated, the zoning of the Richardson property would've remained a B-2, even after the owners moved their business from their home.  A B-2 zone embraces conveniences stores, retail shops and YES... even BIG BOX STORES (like Wal-Mart, etc.)

The property is located on Heimberger Road, nearly one mile north of S.R. 256.  A B-2 district is designated for HIGHWAY business... and this property happens to be on a country township road.  Totally inappropriate zoning!  The people of the community are not against the owners of this property.  This issue was about a thoughtless zoning decision.

O.R.R.D. wishes the Richardson family a smooth and swift issue of a conditional use permit and continued success of their business.
