- Big Box Commercial Zoning Request in Violet Township
In the spring of 2006 a request to rezone 106 acres of farmland at the corner of Refugee and Pickerington roads was received by the Violet Township zoning commission from TLG Development Co. in Dublin, Ohio. If approved, the zoning change would have permitted an enormous commercial complex with a Walmart store and other retailers in the heart of the township and directly across the street from the new Pickerington North high school. - Rezoning of the Richardson Property (Hydromaster)
In 2005, the Liberty Township Trustees voted in favor of rezoning the Richardson property on Heimberger Rd. near SR 256 from R-R (rural residential) to B-2 (highway business). This decision, which had been opposed by the Fairfield County Regional Planning Commission, essentially permitted the Richardsons to operate a commercial hydroseeding/mulch processing/tree service/excavating/septic installation/heavy equipment business in a residential neighborhood. This created a noise, traffic and dust hardship for residents in the vicinity and was a prime example of illegal "spot zoning". Read more...
