The Pickerington Local School District will select from a pool of 12 candidates for the district's next full-time superintendent.

Pickerington Board of Education President Lisa Reade said the board intends to have a new superintendent in place no later than Aug. 1, 2012, but will determine the start date based on the chosen candidate's availability.

The Fairfield County Educational Service Center and consultant Al Meloy are helping the Pickerington Board of Education in the hiring process. Eight of the 12 candidates, including current interim superintendent Jim Sotlar, are from Ohio.
